Whine from sound system

Post by Cbuts05 »

Im getting feedback from my speakers in my truck, I've tried everything, I see other people have had this issue and I'm just trying to figure out if it's the dsr1 or not because at this point it seems like it is.

Factory hu in my 19 ram 1500 classic
Only one amp hooked up right now.

Any help is appreciated to isolate the problem

Please provide a picture of the system info page of the DSR1.
Pair device to Phone or Tablet>Click the BT icon again to show available devices>Click on device and you will be on the system info page> Screen shot everything and attach here.

Thanks very much for the reply, currently at work so unable to grab that picture but I do have this one I took yesterday of the app settings, I will gather the other picture when I'm done work.. I'm guessing it's in my phone's Bluetooth settings I'll be screen shotting?
I'd appreciate someone helping me get this fixed, I've tried everything possible online / got support on Facebook in various groups with no success so your input is appreciated
Will report back.

Thanks

Nope this is perfect.
Can you try unplugging the RCA from just the amplifier first? Does the noise stay or go away?
If it stays you have an issue with the amplifier. it could be as simple as a bad ground or it could be the amplifier itself.
If it goes away plug them back in and unplug them from the DSR1. Does the noise stay or go away?
If it stays you are picking up noise from the vehicle through the RCA cables, they will need to be relocated away from anything that would cause noise. power wires, computers, etc.
If it goes away then the noise is being generated on the DSR1's output side. I would first recommend resetting the unit to factory settings from RF's flashing tool then reflash the dsr1 in this order:
1-BLE module
2-ADS Firmware
3-RF Firmware
Then plug it back up and test. If it continues at this point I would try another DSR1.

Thanks for the reply Justin, unplugging the rcas at the amp had no effect, maybe made it a little quieter not much.
I have 4 frame grounds in the back, all my wiringbis 1/0.. dual battery with grounds under the hood.
Rcas are NOWHERE near my power, not even at the amp..they all run alongside my passenger side with just speaker wire. They are good rcas too, I even tried a spare set. Everyone I talk to tells me it's the dsr1, I wish I could really figure this out..I'm willing to pay a donation to anyone who can help me.. lol

I will try unplugging the rcas just from the DSR 1 and see if that makes it go away, not sure I tried that yet.

I appreciate your help

I have indeed unplugged the dsr1 and the whine goes away.. not sure if that tells us anything, but I will try the rcas at the dsr1 inna couple hours when I'm able to .

Thank you

Unfortunately the noise is still there with the rcas unplugged at the DSR 1.. it's a faint constant whine in all the speaker's.

I have had trouble with this unit already, just the other day it was keeping my amps on for 20+ minutes after the vehicle was off, now it seems they're going off instantly like they should.. lol

Please help me fix this whine 🥲🥲🥲🥲

If it's still there with the DSR1 unplugged and the noise is a consistent pitch (does not follow the alternator or other noises in the vehicle), that sounds like floor noise. It could be that the gain on your amp is set too high, or noise could be induced by the path of where your speaker wires or RCAs have been run.

When I unplug the dsr1 at the back the noise stops, and I've tried spare rcas that didn't change a thing :(

Does the noise go away if you turn down the gain on the amp?

I replaced DSR and the issue continues lol, how come I didn't have to re setup the configuration of the inputs? Only my crossovers.. it kept which channels were which I figured it would've been fresh

I know this is an old thread but came across this with the same issue above. Tried them all and same whine still there.

My fix was changing the amp hi/low setting. My amp that controlled my tweeters and center speaker (only speakers affected - like a dog whistle whine) i had it set to hi for the input. Flipped it to low and boom gone.
