2009 Forester XT Base

Post by 95dyna » Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:16 am

2009 Forester XT Base. Pioneer AVH-2330NEX. System works great except that when i drive, the ATT kicks in and the sound gets all screwy. The EQ light flickers when it does this. Not sure if it is a connection issue in the harness or something else. The other question is about the reverse light wire. I get that you shouldn't hook the back up camera power to that per this forum, but why is that. Seems like it would be counter intuitive.

I have to say that I am not overly impressed with the build quality of the wiring in this system. It is some incredibly thin wire and the connectors seem to be very light weight.

Did you hook up the yellow/black wire on your harness? If so, disconnect it. This would cause your issue.

The reverse wire is a low-current output from a transistor- it is only intended to make the radio screen switch when you go into reverse. If you attempt to power anything off of it, the current draw will be too great, blow the transistor, and damage the maestro. If you're adding an aftermarket camera, simply use the radio's red accessory wire to power it - that way you can view it at any time, instead of just when you're in reverse.

thanks for the explanation on why to not to use the green wire. I just like to know why we do/do not do things.

As for the yellow/black wire. I only see that there is a yellow wire on the diagram. Am I missing something?

Green wire is parking brake- I didn't mention that at all. The reverse wire is purple/white.

Did you connect anything to the yellow/black on the pioneer?

Purple. Right. That's what I was looking at just not translating to my fingers I guess. I'll pull the unit tomorrow and double check the yellow/black.
