2009 Honda Fit w/ AVH-4200NEX no Connection

Post by tpascen1 » Sat Mar 03, 2018 5:09 pm

Hello,

Having some major problems hooking up my Maestro RR

Here's where I am right now:

1 Purchased and Flashed unit (S1I-HON01-DS)
2. Connecting to AVH-4200 NEX with FW 1.06
3. Hooked up Yellow (12V Constant) Gnd to 3 pin power harness (G), Pioneer to Maestro harness (H), and CANH CANL to ODBII pins 6/14, and Accessory power (Grey/Red) to harness A.
4. Note I do not have a Steering Wheel harness, so not connecting SWI 1, 3, Feed

When I power up I can get an approx 10 second connection, gauges show no ignition (with ignition) and then I get a message that "Function is unavailable because of Maestro is disconnected, please check connection with Maestro".

I do not have enough time to check additional menus or settings as I keep getting interrupted by the screen message. Seems Maestro unit keeps trying every 20 seconds or so, then pops up the same disconnect message.

Called Tech support and they suggested re-setting unit by holding down reset button before inserting power harness. This was not successful.

Seems almost like my unit is missing a power connection to keep it alive and connected. I checked 12V constant, ground, and acc and all are connected properly.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

what is the serial number on the Maestro? it is on the back of the maestro on a white sticker next to a QRC code. I'd like to pull it in our system to verify the flash.
Also make sure that you do not have the red wire in the 3 pin connector with red, yellow , and black connected to anything.

Hello Justin, thanks for the reply.

And yes, confirmed that the red wire is not connected.

When you connected the maestro, did you connect the gray/red wire like we show in our instructions? That needs accessory power, and without it, the RR will turn on for a few seconds, but won't stay powered up.

Hello Dara,

Yes, per my original post:
Accessory power (Grey/Red) to harness A.

I'm not sure what you mean by harness A- and further, what wire on harness A? I recommend hooking the gray red up with the red wire at the radio, so you are sure that the radio and the RR are getting the same power, and turning on and off together.

Sorry for the confusion, but I refer to the A Harness as the connector with the many multi-colored wires. In your wiring documentation you refer to it with the letter A

Of all the connectors available, it is the largest one with the most wires. Included in these wires on this harness is the CAN+/-, and the Grey/Red wire which I have connected to Accessory 12V. Yes, radio and RR are getting powered by this same voltage. I have confirmed with a DVM as well.

I just checked your flash, and the firmware you're running did have a bug. We updated it- make sure you re-flash your RR and get firmware version 2.6. When you re-flash, it will automatically give you the newest firmware.

So I flashed ADS-RR(SI)-HON01-DS (512) (2.6) and now I can see my gauges! Thanks for the new SW!

But I can not see the other icons under the gauges icon (car info/temp/car sensor are all grayed out).
I understand the bottom two are related to what is supported for the Honda Fit, but thought I could get the car info. I was hoping to be able to see the any engine trouble codes and the tpm monitor values.

Is there anything I need to do to be able to see this info? Or anything in the flash SW that might be preventing this to work?

Thanks.

TPMS is not supported, so you will not have access to the vehicle info screen in this firmware. If you have an active check engine code, you can see the code by going to the OEM Setup in the radio setup menus, under the gauges section. There will be a menu called "Check Engine".

Support,

I am experiencing the same issue described in this thread with a slight exception. Flashed the unit for my 2013 Honda Ridgeline running an AVH-4200NEX. All connections are made except for the OBDII port, I'm waiting for a male connector for a cleaner install. I have the steering wheel controls connected and the power, red is not being used and the pioneer unit gives me a "no connection error" on its screen. While checking the wiring I was able to get the 42000NEX to briefly swap modes and volume but then I received the no connection error again and no more control. I am sure the connections are correct as it worked briefly and the 4200nex is running the latest firmware. Seems to me I am having the same issue as this thread described , the cause being a "bug" in the Honda firmware on the MAestro RR. Can you please check into this? I can supply the firmware version if you are unable to check it , the unit is currently in the dashboard of my truck. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

crixxx,
Have you confirmed if the RR's gray/red wire is connected? This is the #1 error in this install type, and it causes the issue you're describing. The bug we found in the firmware has been resolved, so it's most likely that you've got a power wiring issue.

Thanks,
