2017 Sequoia with Alpine ILX-F309

Post by digicrack » Wed Mar 07, 2018 12:23 am

Just replaced the factory headunit with the Alpine ILX-F309 connected to a JL Audio 900/5 amp. Most everything functions as expected. The one issue is I get a communication error with the OBD2 connection so no gauge data. It does properly display TPMS readings so I don't know if that is coming from the OBD2 port or via some other mechanism. Does anyone have an idea on what to check? Yes, the OBD2 connector is plugged in and connected to the maestro harness.

The data we're using for the gauges is not coming from the OBD2 connector.

Look on the TO2 harness's 28 pin plug that connects behind the radio. You should see a red/brown and a yellow/brown wire. If you trace those wires across to the OEM harness, are there wires there? I suspect they may not have those wires behind the radio (we've seen one other sequoia built like this before).

If this is the issue, you would need to extend the red/brown and yellow/brown wires, and run them to the obd2, to pins 6 and 14. Red/Brown goes to pin 6, and yellow/brown goes to pin 14.

Thank you for the solution. It was as you described. The toyota harness did not have wires corresponding to the Red/Brown and Yellow/Brown from the T02 harness. I connected them as you suggested and it is now working.
