Highlander one left over vehicle harness?

Post by ranger098@gmail.com » Sat Jan 13, 2018 12:27 pm

2008 Highlander LTD, and my steerign wheel controls dont work. There's one vehicle harness that has nowhere to plug into the TO1 harness, im sure that's for my SWC. anyone have this problem?

Also there's a sort of half RCA/half Headphone jack that doesnt look like itll be used either, any idea what thats for? maybe the factory microphone?

There is a 20 pin plug that needs to be connected to the vehicle, and clipped into the TO1 harness, or we won't get any signal from your steering wheel controls, and they won't work. Is the light on the maestro flashing red? Or does it flash when you push a button on the steering wheel?

That RCA you're describing sounds like an adapter. Use it if you need it.

Thanks for the reply, im just seeing this now. I guess my main issue is that i havent found a TO1 harness that plugs into the extra factory harness for the SWC. none of them are a direct fit. i must be missing something.

interesting, i think that's a harness that i have left over but where would it plug into? I used the other one, similar to the one you circled, and that plugged into my main vehicle harness. i dont see where this one would plug in, pretty sure theres no more space on the idatalink.

Your vehicle will have either the 28 pin or the 20...Never both. What kind of radio did you install? What does the light on the maestro do when you push a button on your steering wheel? Does it blink?

The 28 pin (i believe that's the one) fit one of my Highlander harnesses and is being used now. I installed a JVC KW-M730BT double din carplay enabled radio. The Maestro does nothing when i hit a steering wheel button, no lights.
There are 4 total harnesses that plugged into the factory radio, and 3 of them i have found a home for on the TO1 harness. The one i am pointing to below seems to have nowhere to go...

That is likely the connector that had your OEM backup camera on it. We don't have a plug that corresponds to it. It has nothing to do with your steering wheel controls.

If you're still fighting with this, I highly recommend calling our support line (the phone number in my signature) when you're able to troubleshoot in the vehicle. This isn't a big issue to resolve, but it is MUCH easier to do over the phone than on the forum.
