2006 dodge ram srt10 obd2 disconnect

Post by kenny2wheels » Sun Feb 25, 2018 8:08 pm

I have an issue with the obd2 not connecting being shown on the gages display. I checked the pin connection and they are correct and also reset the maestro and still showing obd2 disconnected. I also have a back up camera that will only come up in reverse when I manually hit the camera option on the hu. I have a pioneer avh 2330 all steering wheel controls work fine just no gages and auto reverse camera. Thanks

See attached for a tech tip on your OBD2. Some of the harnesses were pinned incorrectly at the factory, so sometimes this causes the "OBD2 Disconnected" message. If that's good, make sure you've confirmed a good connection at the OBD2, and reset the RR. This can be done in the OEM Setup menu of the Pioneer, under "Maestro Module Settings".
Tech tip CH2 v2.docx
Did you hook up the purple/white wire from the RR to the radio? Do you have the reverse interrupt in the pioneer set to ON, and B+ polarity (if the radio has that setting) ?

I check the pin settings and all wires are correct rechecked all connections all are tight, still and obd2 disconnected and the purple wires are connected. When I checked the firmware version on the stereo for the maestro it shows ADS-RR(SR)-CHO1-DS, is this correct? I reflashed the Maestro but still showed that on the firmware check.
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Yes- that is likely a firmware bug. The CH2 cars used to be on CH1 firmware until it split off, and it probably just didn't get re-named inside the file. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Have you tried doing a master reset of the maestro through the OEM setup menu?

Yes I have tried a reset at the maestro on both the oem and the maestro to no avail. I also reflashed the maestro through your link and it still shows the cho1 firmware.

I don't think this is a firmware issue- If we have checked the tech tip, connection at the OBD, and reset the RR, I'd say it's a vehicle thing. I'd be willing to bet that this vehicle doesn't send its diagnostic info on the high speed can network, so that's why you're getting this error (occasionally, this is the case in pre-2008 Dodge vehicles). If you hook a scantool up to your truck, are you able to get readings from the HS can at the OBD2?

Yes I hooked a scan tool up to the obd2 plug and it is reading the trucks info.

Right, but from which network? There are several sets of data lines at this diagnostic port.

I checked all the points on the obd2 plug and got a schematic showing which pin out has an assigned description, while the data port info goes through the 6 pin and 14 pin slot other slots are an " optional " user assignment and not equipped with pre_installed pins. The other pins aside from the 6 and 14 pin are for power, ground, etc. etc.

In your radio, go into the OEM Setup menu, under the Gauges, section, and go to "About Gauges". What is the string of letters/numbers it gives you?
