2012 Ram 3500 and uConnect with 8200NEX

Post by SSS LLC » Sat Feb 17, 2018 2:52 pm

I cannot get the menu for choosing to use oem Bluetooth to come up on the head unit, also the buttons for phone and voice activate don’t work. What do I need to do to get access to this menu. With out it the oem mic will not work for phone calls

On the face of your OEM radio, there is a 3-letter code that starts with R. The letters are quite small, and it should be in one of the corners. What is your 3-letter code?

If you flashed your RR with the wrong R-Code, or if the RR detects that there isn't a uConnect module in the vehicle, that menu would be grayed out.

It was an RHR factory head unit. But it had some form of factory Bluetooth. I tried flashing with both versions of the software to make the factory mic work. Neither would allow it. Both versions of the software retained all other functions.

In the RHR radio trim, the uConnect module is built into the factory radio. When you remove the OEM radio, the uConnect module is gone, so it cannot be retained.

No matter which way you flash, the RR knows that there is no uConnect module left in the vehicle, because it doesn't detect it on the data lines. That's why it didn't work.

In this application, the OEM microphone cannot be retained, as it is part of uConnect. Make sure, when you flash, to choose the trim that has RHR listed, and use the Pioneer microphone (in this install, there is no other option but to use the Pioneer's bluetooth system).
