2012 Jeep with AVH2330

Post by pdoggie » Sat Oct 21, 2017 8:18 am

Hi all,

I connected up the maestro with the pioneer AVH-2330 last weekend and I’m getting some intermittent issues. My steering wheel controls drop out after about a minute of starting the Jeep and stay off. If I shut off the car they will return but only for a minute or so. If I reset the Maestro through the radio it connects but goes out after a few minutes at most as well. Being that the 2330 is a new radio I’m a bit worried that it may also have some early firmware issues as well. I did do a hard reset on the radio...same thing. I think I may reflash the maestro but unfortunately I think I’ll be waiting on pioneer for updates.

The BT seems to have trouble making a phone connection yet I can still access music via iPod. Via CarPlay I can make calls with no problems. After taking a drive yesterday the phone via BT showed up out of the blue. Its an iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 11. Any ideas?

Did you connect anything to the W/R input on the back of the Pioneer? When your steering wheel controls stop working, does the light on the maestro blink like it sees you pressing a button on the wheel?

As for the bluetooth, I assume you are pairing to the Pioneer? If so, that would be more of a question for them- especially since it's a new radio.

Hi Dara,
yes I did connect to the W/R input. Yes, when the steering wheel controls stop working the Maestro continues to light up when I press any of the buttons but don't get any responses. The only way to get steering wheel controls is to turn off and on the jeep. Also when I use the OEM RF remote it seems to kill the steering wheel controls immediately. Sorry for the late response as I didn't think it allowed me to post.

I did the pioneer firmware update and the BT is working as advertised now.

There should be nothing plugged into the W/R, or you definitely WILL have issues with the steering wheel controls. What did you plug in there- the all black audio cable, perhaps? If so, it should go into the AUX of the radio.

If you used the blue plug at all, remove it- it's not needed in this install type.
