2008 Jeep Wrangler with Maestro RR + Pioneer 6200NEX

Post by Truman » Tue Apr 11, 2017 1:23 pm

Hi,

this is a pre sales question:

I am having a 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited Rubicon and plan to put a Pioneer 6200 NEX with your Maestro RR + CH1 into my jeep.
The jeep is not having u-connect. The radio is a 130n and the factory amplifier is installed.

What I would be interested to know is, whether I can use the gauges on the Pioneer to see the CAN bus status of different parameters from the CAN bus. I read in one of the threads, that this might not work.

Additionally, I would be interested to know, how the CANbus connection is done now. Is it now plug&play or do I need to splice cables and get it connected.

Thanks in advance for your answer,

Christian

Yes, you will get gauges and vehicle info. The harness should come with an OBD2 plug, so no splicing should be required.

Hi,

I now got the Maestro RR + the CH1 harness, which has the OBD2 plug. How is that plug connected to the OBD2 port (sorry for that question). Is there a picture available ?

Thanks in advance for your answer !

It just plugs into the front of the obd2 port. See attached. This isn't my image, I just found an example off the internet.

Thank you for the info.

So it is not an extension, where I am able to plug another OBD2 device on top of the iDatalink OBD2 plug ?

No. Generally, the vehicle can only send information to one device at a time. If you tried to connect more than one scan tool, one device will likely stop reading.

Hi,

I now tried to program the module, but I am not able to install the usb drivers. I am in Germany and the installer tells me, that it is not compatible with this operating system language. Also changing all regional settings to English doesn't help.

Would it be possible to get the content of 'Drvinst.exe' as zip file, so that I can manually install the drivers instead of using the installer exe ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unfortunately, that will not work. Because we are a Canadian company, he installer is only made in English and French, so the file directories in your German operating system will not match up, so the drivers will not install successfully.

I solved the problem, by running a pure english language version of windows in a virtual machine.

Regarding the gauges, I have one more question. Is the transmission fluid temperature covered for a 2008 Jeep JK Wrangler ?
I know, the pids are different for JK´s from 2007-2010 or so and for the newer ones.

We do not have a list of what gauges work for each vehicle, because it can vary a lot, even from trim to trim. It's all determined by what data codes are on the HS can bus. There is no way to know what gauges will be supported until you install it in the vehicle.

Ok, no problem. I will check it, once it is installed. It is definitely on the CAN bus, because it works for me with the Aeroforce Gauge and also with Torque on my Android phone.
I was just asking, because for the transmission fluid temp, different pid´s are there, depending on the build year of the jeep. So let´s see.

Maybe somebody else here with a Jeep JK, build between 2007 and 2010, can comment, whether it works for him.

After I installed now the Maestro RR with CH1 harness and a Pioneer headunit, I was not able to see the transmission fluid temperature. I know, it is on the highspeed CAN bus and it can be read by Torque, the Aeroforce gauges and others, which I used in my vehicle.
I also know, that the pids on the can bus for transmission temperature are different, depending on the build year of the vehicle. A friend of mine, with a 2015 JK sees the transmission fluid temperature, while 2-3 other friends with a 2008-2010 JK (like me) have it grayed out.
So I personally would guess, that you only support the newer pid for the transmission fluid temp and I would like to know, whether there is a possibility to implement the other pid also or whether to allow a user to define his own pid(s) to scan for.

Unfortunately, no. We only support the PIDs that are part of the universal OBD2 diagnostic protocol. We don't look for proprietary codes at all when we're scanning for PIDs.
