2012 Ram Backup Camera & Carplay issue & Uconnect

Post by cjm » Fri Nov 11, 2016 12:39 pm

I just installed a pioneer 4200NEX into a 2012 RAM 1500 with full SW controls and AMP.

Ive used the AVCH1 and cannot get the factory backup camera to work. The display changes on reverse but there is no image.

I also have a second camera connection for my trailer. I currently have this into the backup camera connection on the AVCH1 - is that correct for the 2nd camera?

I have no audio from the Uconnect - but the Bluetooth from my iphone6 is connected.

And finally, is the pioneer lightning adapter required for carplay - or will any lightning adapter in USB1 work?

Regards,

Cameron

What port on the radio is that Camera RCA connected to? It should be connected to the the BC port (Brown in color) on the back of the 4200nex

Please refer to your Owners guide to properly set up the 2nd Camera.

Make sure the Audio cable from the Maestro unit is connected to the AUX port on the back of the radio.

I believe any Lighting cable should be fine.

Thanks for the reply.

The factory backup camera is wired through the factory wiring - there isn't a RCA plug. I understand the AVCH1 is supposed to pick that up.

A regular lightning cable isn't working (doesn't activate carplay), was hoping it was just the cable - easier fix...

a regular lightning cable is fine. make sure you are plugged into usb1 not usb2 on the pioneer.

I've got the cameras working - was the nut behind the keyboard thinking that the AVCH1 directly connected the factory backup camera - it creates output for it, which I hadn't plugged into the head unit.

I still have no uconnect working. I get about 7 green lights flash when I hit the uconnect button - but there is no audio. I have the audio cable (black) plugged into the Maestro, and into the correct jack on the back of the 4200NEX.

I have reset the headunit and the Maestro - but still nothing

Also carplay and appradio do not activate. I have tried 2 lightning cables in USB1. I can use the iphone6 as an ipod, but nothing else.

Thoughts Anyone?

Make sure your blue/white amp turn-on wire is connected. You will not hear the uconnect without it. As for the CarPlay, I'm not sure. You may be better off giving pioneer a call about that one.

The blue whit from the head unit is connected to the
Maestro. Any other ideas? I'll try reflashing the maestro

Don't do that, it's probably not the issue. Make sure that the small 10-pin connector from the CH1 t-harness is plugged into the vehicle, and that no pins are bent.

What was the 3 letter code on your OEM radio? Ex: RHR, RHB, REQ...

Your flash looks fine. Just to be sure... the connector that you have plugged into the aux- are you using the one with the blue 4-pin plug, or the black 3-pin plug?

Ok..How are you trying to activate the uConnect? Make sure you're hitting the phone button on the steering wheel. If you're in FM tuner, and you hit that phone button, does the radio mute, or does it just keep playing like normal?

I did reflash the maestro (sorry - was already in the truck when you replied) and that did fix it (after a reset again. Uconnect is now working properly.

Now if I could just get the carplay going I'd be happy (not your problem :))..

Thanks for the responses, your service is excellent!
