Pioneer AVH-4100NEX install question

Post by cride1 » Mon Sep 12, 2016 12:19 am

I just did the above installation and have a quick questions. There is an audio cable that runs from the Maestro to the auxiliary input on the back of the Pioneer. Can anybody tell me what purpose that particular cord serves in this installation?

Also, I was hoping to use that aux input as another option for plugging a phone into for music listening. Can a splitter be used on the back of the radio so I can do that?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

In your application, it handles the audio for uConnect. I would not recommend using a splitter. For the other aux, just use one of the other AV inputs on the radio. You may need to use a RCA to 3.5mm adapter, but then each source would have its own dedicated input.

Thanks for the response.

I actually turned Uconnect off when I flashed the maestro because I was just planning to use the HU's Bluetooth capability to handle calls. I did program the phone button on the steering wheel to answer calls and that didn't appear to work properly. The voice command button on the steering wheel didn't work either. I did test Bluetooth calls by using the touchscreen and that seemed to work fine.

If you opted not to retain uconnect, you can use the aux port like normal and remove our audio cable.

So after some use, I noticed that the voice prompts are not very load at all. It sounds like they are coming from one speaker in the front. Is this normal? Would it have anything to do with me removing the AUX cable from the Maestro? This would be volume of voice prompts like turn by turn navigation and google voice as well as phone calls.

The maestro's audio cable ONLY sends audio for uConnect. If you're talking about volume levels for any other voice prompts, then no... Those are unrelated to the maestro, and there should be settings for each of those in the radio/phone (whichever device is producing the voice prompts).
