2014 Jeep Wrangler Maestro with 4200NEX

Post by cpellegren » Tue Apr 26, 2016 8:36 pm

Hi,

I am installing a Pioneer 4200nex into my 2014 Jeep Wrangler (which has uConnect, and steering wheel controls). I currently have a RES 130S, and stock speakers (no alpine premium sound).

A few questions:

If I do not care about the gauges on the new head unit, I do not have to connect to the ODB2, correct? Will I be missing any other features without this plugged in? Same with the camera wire, no need to wire it if I am not going to use it? Also, uncheck Gauges from the flash?

Since I do not have a factory amp, uncheck it when flashing the RR, correct?

Will I be able to use the factory installed microphone for calls, Siri, etc or instll the Pioneer provided mic? I do not care about the other uConnect features, just want it for those.

When flashing, what is Vehicle Info tied to? The OBD2 or radio harness? Does that need to be enabled?

Thanks!

Does your radio have phone buttons on it? In the RES radios, if it has phone buttons, you can retain uConnect and use the OEM microphone, but only for OEM bluetooth. If you wish to use CarPlay, Android Auto, or just use the Pioneer's bluetooth, you must install the Pioneer microphone.

If you don't plan on using the gauges, just don't hook up the OBD2 connections. There is no need to uncheck it during the flash. Vehicle info is listed as its own feature on the website, so just leave it enabled when you flash.

If you don't have a factory amp, you can uncheck it during the flash; Even if you don't, the maestro will detect if you have one. We try to make it as easy and fool-proof for you as we can.

Thanks Dara,

Any tips on how to pop the correct wires out of the ODB2 if I do want to connect them? dont want to just yank them out and break anything.

Either zip tie the harness and keep it up in the dash, or simply snip the wires and tape them off.

Thanks Dara, everything works like a charm. One more question:

I noticed that when using Music within Carplay - the steering wheel controls for next/previous song do not work. I set them to do preset up and down on press, seek on hold. Tapping up and down does not work for next or previous song - is this supposed to work or not (because the Maestro should be flashed with "Next" and "Previous" which are not options)?

Thanks again
