Uconnect tries to update when I try to make a phone call

Post by Cm2401 » Thu Jan 28, 2016 12:14 pm

Head Unit: Pioneer AVH-X2700BS with up to date firmware
Interface: Idatalink Maestro ADS-MRR interface module with up to date firmware
Phone: Sony Xperia Z3 running Android 5.1.1
Uconnect is also up to date according to their website

Everything with the Uconnect system seems to work fine; all steering wheel controls, voice recognition, and phone buttons work exactly as expected. However, when making a call the system goes through all the expected confirmations and just before it should start ringing, it cuts out and the Uconnect voice says "Please insert a mass storage device into the USB with the update file and try again". At this point all head unit controls are locked out and the message repeats every minute or so until you disable bluetooth on the paired phone and power cycle the head unit.

Could this be an issue with the interface module? (or Uconnect? or android?) everything worked fine before the new head unit was installed, and it all seemed to be working fine prior to attempting to make a call, including announcing a new text message received and reading text messages.

What type of vehicle is it?

Have you tried pairing any other phones with it to see if the behavior is the same? You could also try disconnecting the vehicle battery for 15-20 minutes to reset the uConnect module.

It is a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, previously with the 130n head unit.

I have not had a chance to try pairing a different phone but I will do so.

I can try disconnecting the battery, though it was connected and disconnected many times over during the head unit install.
