2012 silverado w/Alpine INE-W977HD No XM

Post by johnny0389 » Sun Nov 05, 2017 5:16 pm

My head unit isn't recognizing the factory XM. On the back of my new head unit there is an S-video looking cabal but nothing connects to it. Is there a fix for this?

Was your vehicle equipped with OEM navigation?

Have you turned the source for OEM satellite ON in the radio? In most alpines, you have to do that or it won't show up as a source.

Thank you for the info. I have xm as a source now. But, now no sound is coming out when it is selected. FM works fine but no sound when I switch to xm.
Also, I can't get my factory mic to work with my radio. I received an external mic with my radio and when I plug it in I
m heard just fine. However, when I use the data cable to plug into my radio head and then plug it into the RR it doesn't work. Any idea what may cause this?

You're missing the audio cable that runs between the maestro and the radio. If that's not plugged in, or plugged into the wrong place, you won't hear OEM satellite radio. It should be the all black, 3-pin connector on one end with a 3.5mm jack on the other end. Make sure it's plugged into iDatalink I/F on your radio. If that model doesn't have an I/F audio input, it should go into aux.

You cannot use the OEM mic when you pair to Alpine; there is not a way to mix and match components from two different bluetooth systems and make them work together. If you pair to OnStar bluetooth, you can use the OEM mic with that.
