2008 Silverdo with Kenwood DDX594 volume problem

Post by smokinduc » Tue Sep 05, 2017 10:04 pm

I installed a Kenwood DDX594 along with Maestro RR. Non Bose system. No amp. I properly flashed the module. I used the non RCA speaker wire hookup. The problem is very low volume. I spent over 90 minutes on the line with Crutchfield retracing and confirming every wire hook up. At a total loss. Their only explanation is a bad module. All functions worked perfectly: Bluetooth, steering wheel controls, vehicle data. Everything except the volume. Did I miss anything?

Tks

You cannot use those connectors with the heat-shrink on them. Cut the heath-shrinked sections off, and wire up to the speaker wires directly. You're sending very, very low signal to a non-amplified system, which will result in your audio being whisper quiet. Hook up to the speaker wires off the kenwood and you'll be good to go.

So simple. Thank you. I'm surprised Crutchfield didn't know this.

Cheers
