2007 Chevy Avalanche LT with Bose and Nav- Backup Camera not turning on/black screen

Post by cgauer5 » Wed Dec 28, 2016 2:16 pm

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LT with the Bose system and factory navigation. I just replaced the factory nav unit with. Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX, Maestro RR, and GM5+. Everything works great except my backup camera is not showing up. Whenever I put the truck in reverse I get a black screen with the guidelines. I have double checked all my connections and tried a lot of different settings on the 8200NEX. Any thoughts on what could be the issue?

It sounds as if the backup camera input isn't receiving video signal. Do you have the extra plug labeled "backup cam" plugged into the brown RCA port on the back of the pioneer?

Yes, it is plugged into the brown RCA port.

And the camera image showed up on the OEM radio, correct? Or did it display on the rear view mirror?

Correct, the camera image would show up on the factory navigation receiver.

If that's the case, I would check the harness that plugs into the camera wires and make sure there are no bent/loose pins. Past that, I would check fuses in the truck; perhaps the fuse for the camera is blown? Since the truck powers the camera, and our harness just adapts the wires to a RCA plug, there's not really a lot going on to troubleshoot here. It's got to be something simple.
