HC1 Toyota Prius C

Post by Skynet » Mon Feb 15, 2016 6:34 pm

I'm trying to understand and figure out if I can use the all in one HC1 on a 2014 Toyota Prius C with a regular key.

I'm planning to use the remote that comes with the CH1 in order to start the car. Someone told me that even with the HC1, I still need to add an after market remote start.

I just want to know for sure that this is the case; whether I need to add an after market remote start, or If I can just use the HC1 to start the car?

The HC1 is a full blown remote start with the bypass built in. If you use the search function on the front page of www.idatalink.com you can choose which product to compare. Who ever you spoke to was uninformed.

A guy that works over at Compustar.

I'm confused because, for example: when you look at a car that can use 3X OEM RS with the ALCA, and you look on the installation page, it does show you that the ALCA is connected to an aftermarket remote start (even when you don't need it). So when you choose HCX for the Prius C (regular key, no 3X), it shows you that you can use it without an aftermarket remote start. So how can you start the car from the OEM remote? You can't. So there is nothing on the page that tells you that it requires a remote in order to do it; it shows it on the top of the page as "optional". It looks like 1 page for all the model, HCX HC1 HC2.

The Prius C key model does not support 3x lock starting. See the attached image where I used the search feature on the website. The OEM remote does not work while running. You would use the remotes that come with the HC1 to remote start the car and lock and unlock the doors.

Now the Prius C PTS does support 3x start.
