2015 Subaru Forrester - HCx - Drone 3400

Post by purrkitty408 » Fri Jan 01, 2016 4:21 pm

Hello, have an interesting set of issues here.

Install is on a 2015 Subaru Forrester 4 cyl Std Key.

Using firmware IDSI-HCX-RSA-SUB3 (1.2)

The drone is a DR-3400 setup as a DC Controller (There wasn't anything for iDatlink in the dropdown, I tried it, and seems to work?)

I have two issues.

1. When I hit lock 3x on the OEM remote, I get a short horn toot, and the parking lights flash three times. I'm fairly sure this is a Subaru code, as there are no more flashes after, but it seems like the HCx isn't getting a start command either, as then nothing happens. I've rechecked the CAN and other data connections with no change in this behavior. I can't find any information on this code from Subaru. The vehicle starts and runs fine with the key.

2. I went ahead and set up the Drone, even though #1 was in play, and found out something interesting. It starts the vehicle flawlessly, every time. It also locks and unlocks flawlessly. What it doesn't do, is stop the vehicle. It takes at least two, and has taken as many as six commands over the Drone network to get it to shut off. It simply says "Remote Stop Error". Also, the Drone seems to ignore the hood switch (I can't verify it is working with just the HCx because of number 1, it's possible that I've got a bad connection at the switch). It starts the vehicle with the hood open.

I know the iDatalink guys are probably off, but thought I'd check here to see if anyone has had anything similar happen.

Any assistance appreciated! I'll be calling support tomorrow, will post findings here.

Oh, also, does anyone know what color the horn wire is? It's a bit of a peeve that iDatalink has these awesome instructions... but completely ignores the horn wire color of all things. I know which connector it's in, but there are probably 20 pins, and I don't really want to start poking with my meter because I don't want to stumble upon the air bag trigger.

Ok, so between a couple conversations with tech support today, I've found the following:

1. HCx does NOT currently support 3x lock on an oem remote, regardless of what the website or install guide says.
2. The issue with the Drone appears to be that I wasn't giving it a full minute between start and shutoff commands, which is apparently a safety feature.
3. The hood switch issue was confirmed, there is a bug report on it, and engineers will be looking at it Monday.
4. I decided not to hook up the horn, as there doesn't really seem to be a point.

Will post an update on the hood switch issue when I get one.

I do have another question now, is there a way to trigger the rear defrost on? Either all the time, or just when it's below say, 40 degrees?

If there is an analog trigger in the vehicle, you can set a POC up for defroster. There is no way to do it by temperate.

Rats, I was hoping it could be commanded through the firmware. Thanks.

We don't support it via data on any subaru.
