Button conflict, 2014 Tiguan

Post by jrm5035 » Mon Aug 13, 2018 1:29 pm

Hello!

Radio: Kenwood DDX9704s
Vehicle: 2014 VW Tiguan, RNS 513
Harness: Maestro RR + VW1 + SAT1 + NAV1

I nearly have my setup complete, but I'm running into a conflict. I'm using the bluetooth / mic on the radio for everything and chose to left the OEM bluetooth out. I have a button conflict when I hit the voice activation button (the microphone); It's triggering both the radio as well as the VW system voice search. If possible, I'd like to take all of the VW bluetooth elements out of the loop, any insight on how to do this?

Best,
Jason

The OEM Bluetooth module that is normally located under the passenger front seat must be disconnected in order to avoid both units trying to activate with the button press

Zack - Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Unfortunately I've pulled this unit and it's still triggering the OEM commands on top of the Kenwood commands. Picture attached of what I pulled out:

Any idea what to check next?

We cannot see the picture you posted. If it was infact the BT module though, it wouldn't still be able to be triggered by the steering wheel controls

That is the communication module for the factory Navigation unit, not the BT module. If you had factory navigation, the BT module should be under the armrest somewhere.

That got it, thanks Zack! I wasn't expecting a combination MDI / Bluetooth unit.

No problem. They are only like that on the factory Nav models
