2015 Jetta TDI SEL - Steering Wheel VW Voice Command

Post by bglf83 » Sun Apr 22, 2018 9:54 am

I have a 2015 Jetta TDI SEL with a Pioneer AVH-2440NEX. The Pioneer is installed with a Maestro HRN-RR-VW1 and the iDataLink Maestro RR. The Maestro is running the 4.0 Firmware and the Pioneer is running the 8.06 firmware.

Issue: When I am using Android Auto and press the VW Voice Command button on the steering wheel with the parking brake off, a small box with an "i" in it will pop up at the lower left hand side of the radio screen. This mutes HD radio and makes it where the screen no longer registers input. The only way I can get this to go away is to power cycle the car.

The VW Voice Command button does engage the mic, just like the button on the Pioneer does. The Pioneer button does not lock the screen though.

Everything else seems to work fine. Is there something I can do to resolve this issue?

Thanks

If you're wanting to use the voice button for CarPlay, you must unplug the OEM bluetooth module (under the driver's seat). It is likely that the BT module is overriding the commands we programmed to it,so if you unplug the module, it should work like you want it to.

Thanks. I researched and found that the Bluetooth module was in the center console. I unplugged it and the issue is resolved.

Good deal! Sorry about the location error- most VWs are under the seat.
