I for one am very happy to see this solution... and I have never owned an apple product in my life. However, I will be going out and getting myself an iTouch because of how easy it will make things.

On a side note, and please forgive my lack of Apple knowledge here, will it only work with the newest generation Ipod touch (5 I believe) or can I pick up an older ipod touch device?

Thank you guys for all of your hard work!!!

It should work since all Apple devices work the same way in IOS unlike Android which is partly fragmented with version #s. I also see iDatalink stock photo with a lightning plug (small plug) vs the 30 pin, so it should plug right in with the original apple cable that comes with the device.

You may want to think about getting an older Ipad 1 or Older Ipad 2 instead. This way, you can load all your manuals and tech sheets on the device instead of printing, thats the way I do it. The itouch screen is just too small.

I dont think you need to buy new if you are looking to use it only for flashing, its not requirement much from the device so picking up an used IoS device should fit your needs.

Buying new is wasting money, trust me, anything you bring with you in the car for install gets scratched when you throw it around or lay stuff on top of it.
