ADS-MRR vs ALP-MRR

Post by Gdubb325 » Thu Aug 16, 2018 10:08 pm

Is there a difference between the ADS-MRR and the ALP-MRR that’s provided with the Alpine i207-WRA unit? I was wondering, because I purchased the Alpine ILX-207 and I know that the ILX-207 comes in the kit from Alpine. If there isn’t a difference, can I flash the ADS-MRR with the ALP-MRR firmware?

They are the same hardware, but they detect differently on the website. Because of that, you need an ALP-MRR to flash any of the perfect fit alpine kits.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a major difference in the firmware? Like, I take it, am I going to get a generic vehicle with instead of a pic of a Wrangler I’ll get a generic car? I’m just curious

The firmwares are very similar; identical with respect to the image of the car on the vehicle info page (that screen's aesthetics are designed by the radio manufacturer). The main issue is that when you flash an ADS-MRR, you will NOT see any of the Alpine Perfect fit radios in the list. You only see those when you flash an ALP module.
