2009 Buick Enclave Install issues xm+turn signal speaker

Post by jweidt » Sun Jan 14, 2018 1:11 pm

Just installed you unit in a 2009 Buick Enclave with a Kendwood DDX6904S. Three questions:

Factory XM shows info but no sound of just says "check tuner". In another post you mention resetting the factory XM by disconnecting the battery and/or resetting the Maestro. How do you reset the Maestro?

If I want to just move to the the aftermarket add on XM module and not use the factory XM, what do I need to do to disconnect the factory XM from the module? Would I disconnect something or reflash the module and uncheck the satellite option?

Speaker for turn signal worked for one day and then quit. Checked connections and they are OK. What can I do to fix this?

Thanks!

You're in the wrong source. There will be two satellite radio sources, and you're in the Kenwood one, not the OEM satellite.

If you add an aftermarket tuner, there's no need to re-flash or remove the other, as they are totally independent sources.

Check the OEM Setup menu. The turn signal volume needs to be above 0, and the turn signal reminder needs to be set to "click in speaker".

One more question. If im in the right source and I see program information but no sound, what do I do? thre was a wire that went between the RR and the stereo that had a electronic plug and a headphone type plug which is not plugged into anything. Does that need to be plugged into something?

The all-black, 3-pin audio cable needs to go into the "idatalink I/F" port.

Thanks for the response. My speaker worked for 1 day and then stopped working. I checked the settings.

Will resetting the Maestro help? If so how do you do this, and will it lose its settings?

Do you still hear door chimes through the speaker? If so, it's still working.

Resetting the RR may fix it if you're getting zero output from the speaker. It will lose whatever settings you changed in the maestro menus of the radio, but it does NOT need to be re-flashed.

Confirmed that I'm getting door chimes, so its not the speaker. I also turned the door chimes up and down and that worked. Turn signal volume turned up to 9. Nothing. Any ideas on the turn signal? It did work for the first 24 hours after installation.

Also, factory XM shows program info but no sound. Already disconnected the battery as suggested in another post to reset the factory XM. Any ideas on this?

Thanks so much for the help/

If you have no audio, you're either using the wrong audio cable, or it's plugged into the wrong port. This is one of the most common calls we get with this firmware. Make sure you're not using the blue plug. The one we need is all black, with 3 pins on one end.

Make sure it's plugged into "iDatalink I/F", NOT AV/iPod. Also, make sure the black 10-pin connector is seated well in the black port on the RR.

Here is the answer to the turn signal question. There is a setting for the Maestro that asks if you want a warning chime to sound if you leave the turn signal on. If you turn this on, you are choosing between this chime and the turn signal clicking every time you use it. It is either/or, not both. Turn this off, and the turn signal click is back. Figured this out by accident after re-flashing the unit and then resetting that setting.

Yes, that is correct, but it shouldn't have affected the main issue where you couldn't hear your XM. I'm glad you've got it up and running now.

I ended up getting the XM add on module and ditching the factory XM. Never figured out why it wouldnt work.
