Pioneer NEX4200

Post by makaveliwi » Fri Jan 12, 2018 4:49 pm

I have a 2009 Silverado and a Pioneer NEX4200. No factory amplifier. I had it installed for about 9 months and it worked great. Then when I would start the car the radio would turn on, no sound output and all external outputs not working. Thought it was the radio. Take the radio in for service and get it back. Same problem. Swap radio for a new one and it works for about three weeks and the same thing happens again. Took radio in and swapped it again. Works for about a week and now the same problem again. Do I have a defective Maestro module? I tried a Kenwood radio instead and it worked fine for a week and then the USB stopped working and the rear video output stopped working. Please help. I switched back to the NEX4200 and the same thing happens. Funny thing is, if I turn off the radio, but not the truck, and turn it back on all functions work normally until the ignition is shut off again.

We would need more info to determine this. Does your truck have Bose? If you reset the radio, does the sound come back?

It does not have Bose, if I leave the ignition on and power the radio off with the button and then turn it back on it did work. However, today I am just not getting any sound at all. Backup cam is not working, resetting is not working.

The maestro does not have anything to do with audio in Non-Bose vehicles.

How did you wire your audio? Did you use the RCAs, or did you use the speaker wires?

If you use the RCAs, cut them off and wire them up to speaker level output. If you used the speaker wires, you should cut the heat-shrinked circuit boards on them? If so, you must cut them off or you will have very little sound.

When you say the backup cam isn't working, what do you mean? OEM or aftermarket camera? Does the screen switch when you put the vehicle in reverse?

It is an aftermarket camera. I have had this installed for over a year. This is something new that happened. The radio had an internal problem and I had it replaced. Put the new radio in and now this is happening. Tried three different new radios and the same thing happens. I wired audio through the speaker level outputs from the stereo. The stereo switches the screen when you put the car in reverse but it is just black. This happens on three brand new radios.

If the stereo switches, then the maestro is doing its job. It sounds like either the camera is not powering up, or the camera video cable might not be plugged into the correct input.

Ultimately, it sounds like none of the issues you're having are maestro related.

Ok, I guess it has just been a bad batch of radios. I will try a different brand.

If you do that, make sure to re-flash your maestro with the new radio's information so everything works properly.
