Maestro SW and 2013 Kia Forte/Kenwood KDC-X300

Post by ShelbyGTman » Sun Dec 18, 2016 5:20 pm

Trying to install an aftermarket stereo into my 2013 Kia Forte. I know I have the right equipment and everything is flashed properly. However, the wiring diagram supplied online and my actual harness in the vehicle coming from the steering wheel does not match up. I know that the harness has not been tampered with so it seems to be an inadequate diagram supplied online. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience as to how they hooked up their Maestro with their steering wheel controls for a 2013 Kia Forte/Kenwood KDC-X300? Are there any crossover diagrams that should work if I can't find exactly what I need? And will I lose the volume control/seek buttons/etc just to gain my hands-free option with this device? Hope someone can help with this as it has been quite a journey trying to get all of this to work and to find information to help me do this. Thanks!

Just for clarification purposes, where are you looking for the steering wheel wires? The diagram pictured is the harness in the radio cavity.

I am using the harness inside the cavity but the pins are not in the same configuration ( no pin where there should be according to the diagram and the wire colors are not in the same location) also the colors aren't matching up to what they control according to the diagram.

I know it is the harness for the steering wheel because when I plug in the factory stereo the steering wheel controls work. When unplugged, they don't.

I do, however, get a short flash from the green light when I turn on the ignition. But that is all. It doesn't come on again.

Ok.... With the information you gave, it has to be a wiring issue. The best thing, if possible, would be to have you call us when you're in the car, so we can look at that plug wire by wire and figure out which ones we need to connect to.
