Module not detected

Post by towel_ruiner » Sat Apr 12, 2014 7:57 am

Ive been looking on the forums and trying to find a solution.

I bought this device today and have not yet been able to set it up. I get the error:

Module not detected
Please connect a module to your PC using a compatible RS-232/USB cable.

I have tried on two different Windows machines and have had no luck... been messing with any IE settings I can think of.. tried compatibility.

I don't have any LED on when I use the laptop, but when I tried using the desktop I saw the LED light up for 2 seconds, and then off.

Any ideas? Did I just get a bad one?

You need to reinstall the USB driver.

Start menu
All Programs
Automotive Data Solutions Folder
Install USB driver

Do this process twice to force the installation of the driver.

Thanks for the reply,

I have tried the installation (twice and more) to force the driver. To verify:
Driver Provider -Weblink USB
Driver Date - 6/19/2012
Driver Version - 1.0.0.0
Digital Signer - Automotive Data Solutions

It is still not working on either windows machine at home, and will try this again on several machines at work...

Anything else I can do, or is this DOA?

To follow up, we got it figured out. Was a super simple solution!

For all my efforts I was on idatalink.com's flash module page and not http://maestro.idatalink.com/

FYI in case anyone tries flashing the maestro on the main page again.

Thanks!

Were closed on the weekends. That would be why there is no answer.

Module not detected is one of two issues.
1. Bad 4 pin cable on weblink flasher (swap with cable from an ALCA)
2. Wrong driver on computer.
Start Menu
Automotive Data Solutions Folder
Install FTDI driver (do this twice)
That will force the correct driver to install.

I check in on the weekends. I don't have a lot of time to help everyone but I try where I can.

I am trying to flash my module, but I'm getting the module not detected. I've tried all of the steps I have read in this thread. Does it matter that I'm running this on a Windows 10 machine?

Windows 10 works fine as long as you are using Internet Explorer and you are on the green www.maestro.idatalink.com website. If you are flashing a Maestro SW, press flash your module 12 times to force it to detect.

Thank you so much for this, bschunck!!!! You really made my day. After a few clicks of the flash your module button (6 or 7), it finally made contact and worked.

Cheers!

Make sure you are using internet explorer and not Edge. Edge is a blue e with a lightning bolt in it. Internet Explorer is a light blue e with a yellow halo around it.
